Part -- In which Biev does her best to avoid sounding too emo, and takes a wild guess at their personality...? The theme for this one is "someone else's/borrowed". The brown-haired boy was standing against the wall with a backpack between his feet. Scotty stated the obvious: "You waited?" Adrian smiled, swinging the bag back onto his shoulders. "I always do, don't I?" Scotty smiled back, but thought that wasn't exactly true. These last few weeks, it was mostly him who had been following Adrian around like a lost puppy. Although his friend seemed to enjoy the company, Scotty couldn't help but wonder if he was just humoring him. "So, did you get in trouble? Are your grades dropping or something?" Adrian was awfully cheerful about it. Scotty shrugged. "She wanted me to be her assistant." Adrian chuckled. "Did you say yes?" "Are you crazy? Like people here don't see me as enough a pathetic dork already!" "But that's what we love about you!" : D Scotty squinted. "Ahaha, I could totally see you doing that, though. I bet you'd write little notes on people's assignments... Adrian was being unusually talkative today. Scotty wondered if this was his way of trying to cheer him up. It was usually the other way around; being close to Adrian made Scotty hyper, and he would start to babble endlessly. He would catch himself not making sense half the time, but at this point he was more worried about boring Adrian to death than he was about saying something stupid. Most of all, he desperately wanted to avoid awkward silences, because it was at those times that he felt his secret might slip out. The truth was, this had been an awful couple of weeks for Scotty. Ever since their first meeting, he hadn't been able to get Adrian out of his head... but the closer he tried to get to him, the more confused he would get. Adrian was good-looking and popular, and always seemed to do everything right. Scotty on the other hand, had found a way to embarrass himself in front of the whole soccer team on his very first day. Since then, it was like he walking around with a black cloud over his head. Every time he tried to impress Adrian, he somehow found a way to make an ever bigger fool of himself. "It's a wonder we're friends at all," Scotty kept telling himself. Though that was just him being overly melodramatic. It was actually pretty obvious to any observer that Adrian had taken an immediate liking to Scotty. At first, he thought the new kid was someone to protect, and had decided to take him under his wing. However he was quick to realize that his first impression had been a little off. Scott was very surprising. The better Adrian got to know him, the more he enjoyed his company — he thought the boy was equally funny whether he was just goofing around, overreacting to something inconsequential or copping an attitude with the seniors. And though he might not admit it, he *may* have even been just the tiniest bit envious of how spontaneous and outspoken — and rash — his new friend was. By contrast, Adrian was always calm and collected. He had never been very adventurous, and he admired that in people. Scotty simply figured Adrian was too nice to tell him to shove off, and that didn't help him feel like less of a pathetic loser at the moment. "Helloooo~? Am I talking to myself?" "Huh?" They were now in front of the dorms. Scotty's cheeks turned a little red. He hadn't realized that he was lost in thought. "I asked if you had any plans for the weekend", Adrian repeated, amused. "Oh. Not really... I'm just gonna sit in my room and draw all over Chris's jacket. He should have known better than to lend it to me — "In that case, you're going out with me!" Scotty raised an eyebrow. What was the catch? "What, you're not doing anything tonight, right? So I'm taking you somewhere neat." "Can't you at least tell me where?" "Hmmm... No." Scotty glanced at his friend. It was hard to tell what Adrian was thinking most of the time. "Come on, it will be fun. I'll be here around 8 : 30ish, okay? Be ready!" Scotty watched Adrian as he walked away. Lately, he couldn't help but wonder what was hidden behind that floating smile of his. |
